Fitted Hats (Fitted Caps): What They Are

A fitted hat (also called a fitted cap) is a structured cap that comes in specific sizes and has a closed back. So, there’s no strap, buckle, or snap. Because it’s made to match your exact head size, a fitted sits cleaner, feels more secure, and keeps its shape better than most adjustable caps.

People choose fitteds like New Era Baseball Caps and other Premium Fitted Caps for the sharp silhouette, the consistent fit, and the way they level up a simple outfit. If you’re not sure about your size, the good news is it’s easy to find with a quick measurement and a size guide.

Fitted vs Snapback: What’s the Difference?

A fitted is made in specific sizes and has a closed back. It’s the go-to choice for mens fitted baseball caps when you want a sharper silhouette and a consistent fit every time you wear it.

A snapback is adjustable with a snap/strap closure, so it’s easier to share, easier to gift, and more forgiving if you’re between sizes. If you like flexibility or you don’t want to think about sizing, snapbacks are usually the simpler option.

Quick way to choose:

Pick fitted for a cleaner look + exact fit.
Pick snapback for adjustability + convenience.

Do Fitted Hats Fit Everyone?

Yes; as long as you choose the correct size. Fitted baseball hats for men don’t have an adjustable strap, so the fit depends on matching your head measurement to the right fitted size.

That said, not every fitted will feel identical because crown height, shape, and materials can vary slightly between styles. If you’re between sizes or prefer a looser fit, going up a size can feel more comfortable. If you want a snug, secure feel, stick to the exact measurement.

How to Measure Your Head for the Right Fitted Size

Getting the right fitted size is simple; you just need one quick measurement.

Grab a soft measuring tape

A tailor’s tape works best. If you don’t have one, use a string and measure it against a ruler.

Measure where the hat actually sits

Wrap the tape around your head about 1 finger above your eyebrows, going over the tops of your ears, and around the widest part at the back of your head. Keep it level; not tilted.

Keep it snug, not tight

The tape should touch your skin without squeezing. You want the same “secure” feel a fitted hat should have.

Read the number and double-check once

Take the measurement in inches or centimeters, then measure one more time to confirm.

Match it to a fitted size chart

Use your final number to select the closest fitted size. If you’re between sizes, choose based on preference:

Snug fit: go slightly smaller
Comfort fit / more room: go slightly bigger

This one measurement makes everything easier. Once you know your fitted size, you can shop confidently every time.

Popular Fitted Styles

Not all fitteds look the same. Most people shop by style type (patch, theme, and colorway) because it’s the fastest way to find the exact vibe you want.

Side Patch Fitteds

These are fitted hats with an extra patch on the side—often a year, event, stadium, or special logo. They’re popular because they look more “limited” and usually feel more collectible.

World Series Fitteds

Fitteds inspired by World Series moments and team history, crafted in the style of official MLB baseball caps. If you like classic baseball heritage with standout detailing, this is the category to start with.

All-Star Game Fitteds

Built around All-Star themes, logos, and event details. These are great if you want something different from the standard team cap without going too loud.

Tonal / Blackout Styles

Same-color logos and details for a cleaner, more minimal look. These are easy to wear daily and pair with almost anything.

New York Yankees Fitted Hats

Clean, iconic, and easy to style with almost anything, making every MLB cap perfect for everyday wear or collection. You’ll find everything from classic navy looks to modern colorways and patch variations, so it works whether you want an everyday cap or something more collectible.
